Born in Hong Kong, Chan went abroad to study art in Toronto, Canada at the age of 17 and graduated as a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Chan has worked in various fields of art as a graphic designer, a free-lance artist and a painter. Her original acrylic and oil paintings are collected by many private and public corporations in Hong Kong, China and Canada.
Over the years, Chan works with various medium including acrylics and oil paints. More recently, she has been creating with acrylics as she finds acrylics pigment complementing her dynamic brush strokes with its rapid dryness. Her style of thick brushes and abstraction continues to thrive these days.
Chan’s excellence in her various series of works partly lies in her consistent artistic level developed from her years of working in various fields. She possesses an acute instinct of intensive dark colors and contrasting compositions and has showed great skills and selection in using them. Her choice of dark coloration, and the handling and employing of it are a result of inspiration drawn from her personal emotional life experience. Chan is known for her style of impasto effects, which is evidently the mark of a confident and vivid-moving hand.
